Roma Women transforming the educational systems around Europe through their social and political mobilizations (RTransform) explores how Roma women are transforming educational systems through social and political mobilisation.
HOW WE HELP
Current projects
We're thrilled to announce a ground-breaking new project funded by the UK government's Levelling Up Fund, in partnership with Sheffield City Council and SYMCA. Building on the success of our RTransform initiative, which empowered Roma women across Europe to transform educational systems, we're now embarking on a mission to empower Roma women in Sheffield to access employment, education, and training opportunities.
Over the past years, our RTransform project has demonstrated the incredible potential of Roma women when provided with the right support and opportunities. Now, with this one-year funding, we're taking the next step towards creating meaningful change in the lives of Roma women in Sheffield.
Our project aims to engage economically inactive and socially excluded Roma women, providing them with tailored support services, networking opportunities, and access to educational and employment resources. Through initiatives like weekly drop-in sessions, educational visits to local universities and colleges, Roma Women Gatherings, and networking events, we're committed to empowering Roma women to achieve their career and educational goals.
By partnering with Sheffield City Council and SYMCA, we're pooling our resources and expertise to ensure that Roma women in Sheffield have the support they need to thrive.
What will we be doing in the project:
Hiring a Women's Career Advisor: We're thrilled to welcome a dedicated Women's Career Advisor to our team. With their expertise and support, they will provide personalized guidance and assistance to Roma women, helping them navigate their career paths, set goals, and access employment and educational opportunities.
Weekly Job Sessions: We understand the importance of consistent support in the journey towards employment and education. That's why we'll be hosting weekly job sessions, where Roma women can receive assistance with job search strategies, CV writing, interview preparation, and more. These sessions will be tailored to the needs and aspirations of each participant, ensuring they have the skills and confidence to succeed.
Visits to Employers: To provide Roma women with firsthand exposure to various employment opportunities, we'll be organizing visits to local employers. These visits will not only showcase different career paths but also provide networking opportunities and insights into workplace culture and expectations. By connecting Roma women directly with employers, we aim to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity.
Educational Visits: Education is key to unlocking future opportunities. That's why we'll be arranging educational visits to local universities and colleges, giving Roma women the chance to explore further education options, learn about different courses and programs, and connect with academic advisors. These visits will empower Roma women to pursue their educational aspirations and enhance their skills and qualifications.
Networking Events: Building a strong professional network is essential for career advancement. To facilitate connections and opportunities, we'll be hosting networking events citywide. These events will bring together Roma women, employers, educators, and community leaders, creating a supportive environment where meaningful connections can be made. Through networking, Roma women can expand their social capital, access mentorship opportunities, and explore new career paths.
Roma Women Gatherings/Conferences: As part of our commitment to empowerment and community building, we'll be organizing Roma Women Gatherings and conferences. These events will feature Roma women role models in employment and education, providing inspiration, motivation, and practical advice to participants. By showcasing success stories and sharing best practices, we aim to empower Roma women to pursue their dreams and overcome barriers to success.
Through these activities, we're dedicated to empowering Roma women in Sheffield to access employment, education, and training opportunities, and ultimately, to achieve their full potential. Together with our partners, Sheffield City Council and SYMCA, we're committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. #EmpowerRomaWomen #LevelingUpSheffield #InclusiveOpportunitiesa more inclusive and equitable society for all.
