Job Description: Career Advisor (with Language Skills: Romani, Slovak) for Roma Women Support

Our role would enable you to actively contribute to promoting gender equality and empowering women through employment and education.
The ideal candidate should hold qualifications in career advising and relevant fields, along with equivalent experience, to effectively fulfil the responsibilities of this role.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Career Advisor with proficiency in Romani and Slovak languages, with lived experience or strong familiarity with the Roma community, particularly Roma women facing challenges in accessing employment and education. This role is pivotal in providing tailored support, guidance, and resources to empower Roma women to overcome barriers and achieve their career and educational aspirations.
As a careers adviser you'll provide impartial job, training and study-related advice in order to help clients make decisions about their future and reach their full potential. You may cover issues such as:
- options for suitable careers
- how to write a good CV and cover letter
- the job application process
- the current labour market
- skills development
- suitable training courses
- available funding for courses and training.
You'll work with women and girls over the age of 16 who may want a career change or need help with further training, volunteering or accessing a job.
Work can be carried out through face-to-face individual consultations or group work. Alternatively, you may engage with clients via email, online chat, social media or telephone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Career Mentoring:
- Conduct one-on-one career mentoring sessions with Roma women to assess their skills, interests, and career goals.
- Provide personalized guidance on career pathways, educational opportunities, and skill development programs.
- Assist in creating tailored action plans to overcome employment and educational barriers.
- Job Search Assistance:
- Offer support in job search techniques, including resume writing, job applications, and interview preparation.
- Facilitate access to job postings, apprenticeships, internships, and vocational training programs suitable for Roma women.
- Liaise with employers to advocate for inclusive hiring practices and foster partnerships for job placements.
- Education Advocacy:
- Collaborate with educational institutions to support Roma women in accessing academic courses, vocational training, and adult education programs.
- Provide guidance on financial aid options, scholarships, and grants available for further education.
- Advocate for inclusive educational environments and address systemic barriers hindering Roma women's access to education.
- Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Conduct outreach activities within the Roma community to raise awareness about available career and educational resources.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and informational sessions addressing employment rights, vocational training opportunities, and educational pathways.
- Establish partnerships with local organizations, community centres, and advocacy groups to enhance support networks for Roma women.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, assessments, and progress towards career and educational goals.
- Generate regular reports on program outcomes, achievements, and challenges encountered.
- Utilize data insights to enhance service delivery and advocate for policy changes to address systemic barriers.
Candidate Profile:
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Romani and Slovak languages, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Lived Experience or Cultural Competency: Demonstrated understanding of the Roma culture, community dynamics, and challenges faced by Roma women in accessing employment and education.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in social work, counselling, education, or related field. Additional certifications in career counselling or workforce development are desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in career advising, workforce development, or related fields, preferably working with marginalized communities. Experience working with Roma women is highly advantageous.
- Interpersonal Skills: Empathetic listener with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust with diverse clients. Cultural sensitivity and respect for individual differences are essential.
- Advocacy and Networking: Proven ability to advocate for marginalized populations, build partnerships with stakeholders, and navigate complex systems to create opportunities for clients.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in using computer applications, databases, and online resources for career counselling and data management purposes.
Location: This position is based in the UK and may require travel within the region to conduct outreach activities and client meetings.

Overview: We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work as a Community Heritage Champion with lived experience. The Community Heritage Champion will be responsible for supporting and empowering individuals and communities to explore and celebrate their heritage.
This role requires someone with lived experience of the communities they will be working with, as well as a strong understanding of heritage and its importance.
Responsibilities:
• Engage with communities and individuals to explore and celebrate their heritage and empower them to take ownership of their own heritage projects.
• Work closely with community groups, schools, and local organizations to develop and deliver heritage activities and events that celebrate the diversity and richness of heritage within the community.
• Help to identify and develop new opportunities for heritage projects that celebrate and explore the community's unique cultural and historical identity.
• Collaborate with our project partners and with local historians, archivists, and other professionals to document and preserve the community's heritage and share this knowledge with wider audiences.
• Participate in outreach activities and events to promote the importance of heritage and raise awareness of the opportunities available to explore and celebrate heritage within the community.
• Create and co create resources about and with some of the most underrepresented communities of Sheffield.
Requirements:
• Lived experience of the communities and cultures within the area of work.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of heritage, including cultural heritage, local history, and the significance of heritage to communities.
• Desirable experience of developing and delivering heritage projects and activities, and of working collaboratively with community groups, schools, and local organizations.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of audiences.
• Engage with communities and individuals to explore and celebrate their heritage and empower them to take ownership of their own heritage projects.
• Create and co-create resources about some of the most underrepresented communities in the city and put together a pack of resources available to the public, services, and to our communities.
• Provide guidance and support to community groups and individuals who are seeking funding and other resources to undertake heritage projects.
• Help to identify and develop new opportunities for heritage projects that celebrate and explore the community's unique cultural and historical identity.
• Collaborate with local historians, archivists, and other professionals to document and preserve the community's heritage and share this knowledge with wider audiences.
• Participate in outreach activities and events to promote the importance of heritage and raise awareness of the opportunities available to explore and celebrate heritage within the community.
• Ability to work independently, manage own workload, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Passionate about community engagement and empowering individuals to take ownership of their heritage.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
• Desirable: experience of fundraising and securing funding for heritage projects.
